Extra financial help

You may be able to get extra financial help, for example, if you’re:

  • on a low income, are disabled or have children, such as a grant or allowance
  • studying a certain course, like nursing or social work

You may also be able to apply for extra money from your university or college, such as a bursary, scholarship or hardship fund.

You do not usually need to pay back this extra financial help.

Check on the student finance calculator to see what extra help you might be able to get. You’ll need to know if you’re eligible for a loan before you use the calculator.
